Explanation: Say that the total number of members of the study group is x. If 60% of those are women, 0.6x are women. If 45% of those women are lawyers, the number of women lawyers is:

(0.45)(0.6x)

This is a little easier with fractions:

(9/20)((3/5))x = (27/100)x = 0.27x, choice (C).
